Paperbag Album #2

Here is another version I made. This *was* going to be the one I was going to teach, but just too much work and I have several first timers signed up, so decided on a simpler version (see previous post) for the class. I was also asked how many I have signed up. The last I heard (with cancellations and new ones signing up) there are 14. I have 15 kits, so if you live in the area and want to take the class, call Scrap Happens in Broken Bow. They have a list of the supplies that you need to bring to the class.

Papers used are Basic Grey's Fruitcake, ribbons are miscellaneous.

Paperbag album class

I have been working on some paperbag albums. I made three different ones and this is the one that I will be teaching Saturday (unless we really get the ice storm that is being predicted). Here is a picture of all the kits lined up on my table...

back view Papers are Basic Grey and inked with SU!'s Creamy Caramel. Ribbons miscellaneous. The three tabbed pieces on the ends are tabbed to solid cardstock for more pics or journaling.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

So much has been going on here. The day before Thanksgiving, I finally *gave ine* and agreed to have an MRI on my back. If you know anything about my history and how many surgeries I've had in my life, you understand my dragging my feet. I have been concerned that if I have the MRI and it's not good, then I will be told I will have to have surgery. But my *friends* (LOL) and family have tried to encourage me that if I have the MRI, it might be something simple (now that would be rare! nothing about me has ever been simple Ü). So I had the MRI on Monday and by the time we got home there was a message from my dr saying she had already gotten the results (see I told you...rare Ü). Anyway, seems I have "several bulging discs". She asked me to call her the next day to set up an appt with a spine specialist. I will be seeing Dr. Beard from Colorado, but will see him here. He comes to Gothenburg once a month. Not sure which day, but they will be calling me and letting me know. The Imaging Center sent home the CD of my scans and we looked at it. I count at least 5 bulging discs. At least I'm not imaging my pain. Sometimes I would think if I could just *relax* the pain would go away and it just never seemed to happen. So now it's a waiting game. I am still doing my PT at home. I am still in constant pain, but don't want to quit the PT in case I would actually be in worse pain if I wasn't doing it. I am still not agreeing to surgery, but am willing to hear what my options are.
Thank you for all the well wishes and e-mails I have rec'd concerning my back. That is so kind of you all. In the next post, I will show you what I have been working on. I am so thankful that I can sit and stamp or work on things.

Strawberry Shortcake Altered Candle

I have been having so much fun altering these candles. I made a few of the first one with slight variations. Here is a completely different version. I have two more to show you after this. I think each one I do becomes my *favorite*. Ü

Patterned paper is Basic Grey.

First Snow!

We woke up this morning to snow. Very little, but snow just the same. This is taken in our back yard. I don't mind snow, but I never want it before Thanksgiving. I guess this isn't too bad as long as the roads are clear tomorrow (suppose to get more tonite). I didn't like the icy patches on the road this morning though.

This time it's a button container from SU! I saved the plastic container after the buttons were gone for a reason. Ü I just covered this with patterned paper from SU! and filled with goodies for my secret sister on Splitcoast.

Another altered jar

This is a "thankful" jar. Two years ago, I started a new tradition. Starting the day after Thanksgiving, when we think of something that we are thankful for, we write it on a piece of paper, sign and date it and put it in a box I have sitting out at all times. Then on Thanksgiving, I take them out and read them. It is such a good reminder of all the things we remembered to be thankful for during the year. This will be our first Thanksgiving without g'ma and will be tough (she LOVED her pumpkin pie, so I bet Jesus is making her the biggest bestest pumpkin pie ever!). Anyway, it will be a bittersweet holiday as we read what we were thankful for this year.

So I made this jar (I like it better than my box) for us to continue the tradition. Cartridges used were Mini Monograms. Paper by Basic Grey and ribbon was from JoAnn Fabrics.

Pumpkin Pie Candle Jar

Here is a candle jar I altered. I am loving how it turned out. I purchased the candle for a $1 at Dollar General. They had several in different scents. I am going to give these as gifts this holiday season. In fact I will be giving this one with a card and the tic tac purse I showed a few days ago to a friend who is here visiting from TX. (hi Bethany!)

Papers used were Basic Grey, Bazzill, and Cosmo Cricket. Diecuts made with Cuttlebug, SU! scallop punch and EK scallop punch, circle with George cartridge. Ribbon DCWV and unknown. Karen Foster stamps used to stamp "pumpkin pie" and distressing with basic brown ink, button and brads finish it off.

Altered Jar Class

Here is the second class I am teaching for the LSS's 12 Weeks of Christmas promotion. I am teaching a class every Saturday from this Sat thru the first Sat in December. I will post the other classes each week that I will be teaching them. This is an altered 24 oz jar that had red grapefruit sections from Del Monte ©. I loved the rounded square shape of this jar. PLUS, mom had BUNCHES of these saved because she was "sure" I would want them. LOL!! Normally, I would NOT, but it was perfect when this class came up and I saw all the jars she had. Ü

Sorry about the bad pic's, but I was in a hurry to get a picture of it before we had to leave, so I could take it back to the store. So far I have 15 signed up for it. WOW!! This will be my biggest class so far there.

It's a very simple jar that won't take very long to make because everything will be pre-cut. The stars are cut from the George cartridge for the cricut and the scallop circle is cut from Mini Monograms cartridge. I have borrowed this (mini monograms) from the store so many times I need to get my own! (on my Christmas wish list-but will probably have to buy myself Ü).

The striped and star patterned papers used are the school papers by Carolee's Creations "Adorn it"© and the solid papers are Basic Grey: yellow-"Clouds in the Park" (Stella Ruby collection), brown-"Saturate" (Infuse collection), and the green is Deja Views Flurries & Frost collection called "Mistletoe".

Other items used were button, SU!'s linen thread, and cereal boxes for "chipboard", ribbon and red lined sticky strip tape.

You can probably soak the labels off, but mom had already washed and dried the jars, and I didn't want to have to take the time for them to dry again, so I used Un-Du to take off the labels-very slick!! Here is the front view. Here is the top view.

Pilgrim Thanksgiving challenge

This card was for a sketch challenge on Inky Antics. You should check out the gallery there. So many cool ideas.

I used Basic Grey patterned cardstock, colored pencils, gamsol and blending stumps, SU! white and pumpkin cardstock, brads and basic brown ink to distress. The sentiment is made with a label maker.

I joined a secret sister swap on SCS and we are given a challenge each month. This month's challenge was:

You can use a paper cutter, adhesive and ONLY:*2 colors of cardstock and 1 neutral*1 stamp set (or if you have no sets you are allowed to use two stamps) and background counts as a set*Black ink *markers, gel pens or color pencil (NO gamasol or blending tools etc) *1 embellishment of your choice (1 brad, 1 piece of ribbon, 1 piece of hodge podge etc)

"Tic Tac" purse tutorial

This is actually made with generic "tic tacs" and I like them better. I purchased them from Dollar Tree.

Supplies not in photo that you also need is adhesive and distressing ink if you want to distress the edges, and ribbon scraps. Cardstock is cut the width of the breath mints container and the length to fold over and adhere (here I cut it 2.5" x 4.5".Round the corners as shown in photo. I apologize for the bad photos. Wasn't very good lighting here, but wanted to get this tutorial posted as promised. Adhere the small coordinating color to the patterned paper as shown. You need two chains for this. Click the ends together to form a circle. Apply adhesive on the coordinating piece. Wrap the paper strip around the breath mints with the chain at the top of the mints. Tie ribbons to the chain "handle". Here is the finished project.

Stocking Snowbuddy

Here is another snowbuddy image from Inky Antics. I just love these guys. They all bring a smile to your face. I am still using up patterned cardstock from my Dasher pkg that I was hoarding from last year. (gotta get rid of that habit!!) The new Figgy Pudding came into the LSS Thursday and I stopped in yesterday after my physical therapy and picked some up. Ohhhh so pretty, but I AM going to use it-ALL of it. I picked up a couple of fun shaped tin boxes at the dollar store as well as a couple of candles in jars to alter. We have Dollar General here and they have spools of ribbon now!!! Picked up some of them too.

Okay, got sidetracked, back to the card. The image is stamped on shimmery white cardstock and colored with colored pencils, gamsol and blending stumps. The brads are SU! as well as the artichoke ink I sponged all around the edges. (this ink goes great with this line from Basic Grey!)
