Happy Friday!

Last week I received an e-mail from my designer idol Tammy DeYoung asking if I would make a card for her for someone to give someone. Ü Sound confusing? LOL! Anyway the end recipient is in the hospital with foot surgery and she LOVES turtles.

So here is the card (outside and inside) I designed special for her. I hope she loved it and is on her way to a quick recovery.

*medical note: the doc is going to have me try a new med starting with a baby dose and hopefully be able to work up to an adult one. the plan is to try and prevent me from getting so sick whenever I'm around sick people. Ü During spring break I have to have a CT scan of my lungs to see if they can tell what is going on.

It's Christmas!

Well, not yet, but it will be here before you know it! Today's CSAYL challenge is hosted by Vicki. Her challenge was to create a card using *traditional* colors: red, green and a splash of silver and gold.
For my card I used Making Handmade Cards' Bella and Christmas Doodle sets.

This is a super easy card to make and the digi prints and images make it even easier! I colored with pencil colors and added some glitter to the top of the tree.
I'm the kind of person that always wonders "why?", so I ask WHY are Christmas *traditional* colors red and green (with gold or silver)? We celebrate Christmas because of Jesus and He was born in a stable/manger (brown-wood/mustard-y straw), wrapped in swaddling cloth (white or off white), so why aren't those colors traditional? Okay, I've probably just lost some subscribers thinking I'm insane, but that's okay. Just wondering.

Paper Flower

This is another card I made for Making Handmade Cards using their Refresher e-kit. For the paper flower I printed the design on paper rather than cardstock so I could crumple it easily. I used 3 different designs and just free-hand cut the circles and then sewed the button to all 3 layers.

Simple Butterfly

This is one of the super simple cards I've made for Making Hand-Made Cards using their Refresher e-kit.

I only used product from this kit. I printed off 2 of the paper pattern designs for my base. The butterflies are already printed and you just cut them out. I cut out two and adhered one to my card and then the second one I only applied adhesive to the center to give it a 3-D effect.

It's the little things...

Last nite I rec'd an e-mail from a gal with Making-Handmade-Cards saying they had discovered my blog and would like me to be on their design team. They sell e-kits. You can read more by clicking here and if you subscribe to receive their newsletter you get the Floral Kit that I used here.

This paper had the white center and I just added the dots with a white gel pen. The felt flower is cut with Flowers Layer 3 SU! die. If you don't have this die you can cut your own or google free flower templates and find all kinds of patterns.

The crocheted flower (by me Ü) is using my friend Melissa's pattern (you can find it here) and I used DMC floss 315. Orange button is Basic Grey.

SU!'s Pumpkin Pie cardstock matches the orange in this digi print perfectly.
