Today is Flag Day and I am celebrating along with InkPaperStamps. You will want to be sure to head over there for the list of everyone who is playing along. There will be lots of inspiration, tutorials, and prizes to win.
I am sharing this card I made using a free Patriotic Subway print from here.
Along with the card, I am giving away this stamp set.
All you have to do is leave a comment about any Patriotic celebrating you do (sorry, USA comments only). If you don't, that's fine, you can still enter to win. I will draw a name Saturday morning.
We celebrate the 4th in a big way. Comstock has a population of about 76-ish, but come the 4th hundreds of people come for the celebration they put on. It starts early in the morning with Kolaches at the Sr. Center and sand volleyball in the park. Then at 10:30 they put on one of the largest parades around the area. After that we have friends and family out to our farm for a BBQ. (there are several that have picnics in the park, attend a BBQ at the community center or have family over like we do).
Then it is back to the park for fun and games for all ages. Homemade ice cream, sno-cones, karaoke, etc. Then the baseball games start with the little ones to the adults til dark, then the best fireworks in the county. People come from all over just for the fireworks.
Debbie, what a great card! Were we live several of the neighbors, and ourselves, buy fireworks and we take turns lighting up the night sky. Of course, we have a BBQ during the day to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteOK-that should be "where" we live...
ReplyDeleteGuess I need some more coffee. :)
Very cute card you've made! Thanks for sharing the print. Also, thanks for the chance to win those beautiful stamps! My family pretty much does the whole 4th of July shebang (BBQ, fireworks, etc) :)

Debbie, that's a fabulous card for today--you're getting me all excited for our July 4th cookout! And that stamp set is just adorable. . . . so many ways you could use it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting a great stop on our inaugural Flag Day Giveaway; someone will truly be blessed by your generosity!
Oh, what a fun card! We celebrate in the classic way: flag outside, bbq at home, and some lobsters! Yum!
ReplyDeleteLove that card and stamp set!! I would love to win your goodies, and so generous of you to offer them.
ReplyDeleteWe like to celebrate the 4th of July cooking out and watching the fireworks from our backyard. Unfortunately my husband is a Military Policeman in the US ARMY for the past 16yrs, so we don't always get to celebrate with him, but we cherish the time that when we do get it!

Fun card. Would make a nice invitation. Growing up, we always had big family barbeques on the 4th. Unfortunately, through the years, the family has shrunk and the barbeques have gotten sporadic.
ReplyDeleteGreat card. Sounds like your town does the holiday up in big way. Ours is quieter, usually spent with great friends and family.
ReplyDeleteCool card and thanks for the giveaway....
ReplyDeleteHappy Flag Day!
Lisa
Happy Flag Day (and my Husband's 55th Birthday!!) We celebrate the 4th with a b-b-que and homemade ice cream is a must. At night we usually light fireworks at my folks' home or we head over to Comstock for the fireworks. I agree, Comstock has a wonderful parade.
ReplyDeleteI really like your card and the give-away stamp set. We always have a parade, picnic and fireworks -One of my favorite days all year
ReplyDeleteReally like your card! Perfect for Independence Day!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrate Independence Day with fireworks at home and usually go auto racing that weekend and enjoy a professional firework show.
Thanks for sharing!

What a fun card. I love all the red white and blue.
ReplyDeleteOn the 4th we start the day off with a parade. When that gets over we head off to the city park for a card show, fun stuff for the kids and lots of booths by locals. We top the day off with a BBQ and fireworks.
Thanks for a chance.
What a great card. We go to a rock quarry for fireworks, while the local Symphony plays along to them. It's such a beautiful sight to see the fireworks and hear the music timed to the bursts!!!Makes for a great evening.

Wow Debbie - I love this card! Thanks for the link to that subway art - can't wait to use it for my own projects :) For the 4th, there is a neighborhood parade and breakfast every year. When my kids were young they would decorate their bikes and wagons. Now that they are older, they would rather sleep in :) My sister usually has a BBQ at her house and then we go to Sugarhouse Park for the fireworks. The kids ditch us immediately to go find their friends and then we meet up after to walk home. Thanks for the chance to win this great stamp set :)

The biggest patriotic celebration we do is to go to coming home ceremonies at the base for returning soldiers. If you want to see true patriotism, this is the place to be! Hoo Ahh!
ReplyDeleteI love the card you created! I'm big on the red, white, & blue colors anywhere, anytime, any way! The stamp set is fabulous and I'd really love to win it! We're retired now so we celebrate quietly at home. I make the traditional picnic foods and my DH BBQ's!
ReplyDeleteHello Debbie...very very cute card...patriotic for sure! Sounds like a great time you guys have! For the 4th we typically celebrate with the kids...picnic all day...lots of good food and good company. At nightfall we all go out on my son's boat to the nearest town and watch the fireworks on the water. It is most awesome to watch them on the water...and to sit and hug on my grandbabies all the while!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
HUGS!
Vicki
Love the card!! Depends on were we live at the time. It will be our 1st 4th of July in Okinawa, Japan. we will have to see :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea for a July 4th card. We celebrate with a picnic, our local amusement park and fireworks!
ReplyDeleteKim
Love the card - it is sooo cute! Great job! We don't do much usually for the 4th of July. A couple of years ago though - we met our then future president, Presidnt Obama here in our community. Us, and another couple had a "one-on-one" with him. Come to think of it, we had lunch with Chris Dodd also that day. But, generally my husband will grill something and maybe watch the parade and watch fireworks at night. We do watch the concert on TV from D.C. too.

Love the cards! My birthday is on the 4th and I used to think all the fireworks were for me. My husband proposed on the 4th and I will be turning 50 this year. So we are going to have a cookout for all my favorite people!
ReplyDeletercrogans@comcast.net
Sounds like you have a wonderful celebration! Our church usually has a family picnic/parade that we attend, then my husband and I watch the production done by Boston Pops each year on TV. I guess that sounds boring, but we enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteOur church always has a big chicken barbeque at a park on the fourth. After the meal, we sing a few patriotic songs together and then play some outdoorsie games like egg toss, volleyball, and softball. :)

Hey there Debbie! I just wanted to say that your card turned out fantastic with the subway print! I am so loving these right now! We always gather the family together and have cook out. Usually it's so hot that we have to find some water activity for relief. Water balloons are a staple! Hope you have great day and thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeletegreat card and image! My hubs birthday is the 3rd...we never have any plan other than to enjoy the weekend with our kids. Last year our fireworks attempt got rained out....maybe this year we won't! Kids sleep in the playhouse and we hope to swim and bike....just summer stuff, sans the crowds!! (don't enter me in your giveaway)
ReplyDeleteGreat patriotic card! We celebrate with a bike race at our rec center for the whole family, picnic, then fireworks. And of course, Old Glory is flying at our home with lots of American decor all around. Thanks for the chance to win.

fun hop! thanks for a chance to win your awesome card and stamp set! we have been attending our local town's 4th of July parade for nearly 40 years, (might have missed ONE year) the parad was so small in the beginning years that it went around the town square twice, but it's grown in size every year.

How fun this is. We celebrate by having family over. In the past we have gone to the local park to watch the fireworks. That was when we lived in CA but now we live in MO we can't find one close to us. That's ok since we can buy fireworks no.

I didn't finish typing properly on the last one. I guess I should have previewed it. I meant to say that's ok since can buy fireworks now.

That is such a cute stamp set! We usually have a cook out and watch fireworks from the lake close to where i live....
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice card! I'd LOVE that stamp set! We live out in the county fairly close to the lake where they do fireworks, so friends and family always gather and set up our lawn chairs and boom box (yes I still call it that) to listen along as they broadcast the music being used with the fireworks.
ReplyDeleteFirst - I LOVE your font! It's soo fun! I LOVE your CARD! The subway print is awesome! For the 4th of July we usually go camping with our family. Unfortunately this year I have to work over the weekend. I'm hoping we'll be able to see some of the local fire works from the office.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win your awesome card and stamp set!!

ReplyDeleteWow - great card!! Thanks for the opportunity to win this great set!
ReplyDeleteFourth of July is one of my favorite holidays - I like to have a party (BBQ) that is decorated in these great, strong colors: RED, WHITE & BLUE!
we fly our US flag 24/7. I also have yellow ribbons tied all along my front fence. We are a family filled with veterans. Thanks for this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteSusan
We fly the flag and usually go to a friend's house on the lake for a cook out. This year we will be camping on the St. Lawrence. I am making lots of red, white, and blue decorations to put around the RV. Thanks for the chance to win. patnbobcuddy at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome card, thanks for sharing the file for it. We grill out and hang out with family and friends on the 4th

What a delightful event this is. My husband is a decorated Vietnam veteran, so we always rally around the red, white and blue! God Bless our Troops!
ReplyDeleteGreat card. I also live in Nebraska & not to far from Comstock. But I usually spend the day with family & friends & then when it gets dark enough head to the neighbors to watch the firworks. Thanks!
