Embroidered Flowers Tutorial

I have been asked to be a Tombow Ambassador and recently received my first package from them to create with. I received 2 products: Mono Correction Tape and Mono Adhesive Removable. They came all packaged up pretty in this fun clear pillow box which I will be using for a project you can be sure.

I used the Mono Adhesive Removable to create this project.
To start with, I traced my stems and leaves from Cutting Cafe's Sentiments Stems and Flower Tops Printable Stamp Set.

I applied Mono Adhesive Removable to the front and adhered it to my fabric backgound (here it shows osnaburg, but I changed my mind and decided to go with muslin). Then I applied more Mono Adhesive Removable to the back so that I could adhere it to a window to trace my pattern

I also adhered the adhesive to cut out printed images that I used for flowers that would be too hard to trace with the thick water soluble fabric pen. It stayed on the fabric while I stitched and made French knots on the pattern. This is nice especially for small sizes so you don't have pins poking you as you stitch. By stitching through the paper, it perforates it and it easy to remove once done stitching.

sorry for the blurry image, I took these pictures throughout the day as I stitched and didn't realize this was so blurry and the coloring funky on the photo above.
Thank you Tombow for the package to create with. I hope this gives you a new idea of how to use Tombow's Mono Adhesive Removable.

Handmade Flower Notepad

I created this notepad for va.sunshine's challenges on SCS for her DTGD challenge. You will need to be a member to see what her challenge is. Already a member? Then go here for her challenge details.
At CHA I learned a fun way to make handmade flowers using Tombow's Mono Multi Liquid Glue. They are so much fun and so addictive! I designed this project for a DTGD challenge on SCS and have created a little tutorial for you on how to make the flowers.
I created the notepad with scraps of patterned papers left over from my CHA cards I created for Inky Antics. These notepad covers are perfect for using up scraps like this. I was able to make 5 notepads with all the little scraps I had left over and didn't have to add them to my scrap file! Ü

Now on to how to make the flower.
1. Run a strip of Mono Adhesive Removable on a piece of scrap paper/CS. This hold down your circle pieces so that when you add the Multi Glue they won't move around on you.
2. Punch a bunch of circles and adhere to the removable adhesive strip and lightly squeeze some Multi Liquid Glue around on them using the nozzle to spread around.
When the glue dries it will be clear and stay tacky for you to add your elements to it. You can see the first ones I did are starting to turn clear.

3. Using the element you want for your outside layer, pinch and scrunch and press into the glue. Here I am using crepe paper.

4. Continue doing this all the way around and trim when you make one round.

5. Add a Tombow Power Tab to the center for your next element.

6. Add your next element to the Power Tab. Here I chose a paper flower. Add another Power Tab into the center of the flower.

7. Add your last element to the Power Tab. You can see I added a button that I threaded crochet thread through. (I don't like "naked" buttons. Ü)

There ya go! I fun and funky flower! Since the patterned paper had birds in it at the top of my note pad, I punched a SU! bird and added it nestled into the flower to finish off my project.

Pocket Folder Journal Tutorial

This is the new Friday freebie from Faith of Designed2Delight. She designed this in honor of the challenges going on each day at SCS for the Hope You Can Cling To for breast cancer.

I have family and friends who have not only faced breast cancer, but other cancers. 5 years ago, I had a brain tumor (benign and I'm doing fine, had a scare a few weeks ago, but it wasn't a tumor again, just after affects still from the surgery) and something that helped me get through the storm was journaling. So when I first saw these images I knew I had to make a journal.

This journal is quick and easy to make. I can't remember where I first saw this idea, but I tweaked it a bit and have been making them for some time now.

Supplies:
pocket folder
8" x 5" Jr. legal pad
patterned paper to decorate folder
embellishments (opt)
stamped image
ribbon
Tombow Mono Adhesive Permanent

Directions:
1. Cut pocket folder in half on crease line
2. With short edge along paper cutter edge, cut at 8.25"  (away from bottom edge)
3. With long edge along paper cutter edge, cut at 10.5" (away from pocket end) and then score at 5 1/8" and again at 5 5/16"

4. Cut the pocket edge down as show in the picture below. This is where your notepad will fit.

5. Cut patterned paper piece 5" x 2" and cover bound edge of notepad and insert notepad over cut flap.

6. Decorate front as desired.

7. Apply adhesvie to ribbon to the front of folder and wrap around back and tie at side.

8. You can also decorate front inside flap.

Note: One folder will make 2 notepad journals. The "pocket" will just be on the other side. When the pocket is on the left, I cut it at an angle and add a couple of paper clips. Notes and etc can be tucked inside the pocket. Then I add adhesive to the back of the notepad to hold it inside.
