RI WIW Anything Goes

When there are 5 Wednesdays in the month, the challenge is Anything Goes for Repeat Impressions DT members.

I used the Bumblebee Cling Set for my card this week. The patterned paper is some left over from bridal shower cards I am making and you will be seeing those later on. I had the scraps all laying on the table, so decided to just use them before I put them away. The little daisies in the set went well with the daisies on the gingham patterned paper so it was a perfect match.

I colored the image with Tombow markers, then added some ribbon that was left over from a project and it JUST fit.

Be sure to stop by The House That Stamps Built blog (Repeat Impression's blog) for more details on how you can play along, Each submission enters you in the drawing for a $25 Repeat Impressions Gift Certificate. Love is Brewing

The theme for the April 18th bridal shower was Love is Brewing. We served flavored coffee, tea, and hot chocolate as well as biscotti, scones, muffins, and fruit. Every time I host a shower it becomes my new favorite. This one may be my favorite of all...well until the next one. LOL

I especially love how the invitations turned out. I couldn't find paper to match her colors of mint and peach, so found some online to print. (Remember you can click on the photos for a larger view)

The coffee cup is cut from a Cutting Cafe file called Coffee Cup Shaped Card 2 Template. I I tell ya, my silhouette has been getting a major work out with all these showers. The "love is brewing" on the inside I asked Regina from Cutting Cafe to make special for me for this shower. Thank you Regina! You are the best!

I made flowers from coffee filters. Love how these turned out and will definitely be doing this again! I found the tutorial on Pinterest. I used kraft colored coffee filters and dyed with watered down paint. The springs were saved quickly from an old rusty bed spring we had before it got taken to the recycle place. DH quickly cut me 10 of them. Now I wish I would have had him cut them all. They are going to be fun to decorate with and you'll be seeing them again. Ü

I didn't get a picture of it, but the hot drink cups were dark brown with white lids like you would get at a coffee shop. Also not shown was the coffee "order form". The tables were numbered and they put their name and table number on the form. Then we picked them up and filled the "orders" as the bride-to-be opened her gifts. It was easier that way to remember who ordered what.

The plates were such a fun find! Elizabeth's them was boho chic and these plates were perfect. I found them on Amazon and ordered some. Then as I realized the shower was going to be a bit larger, I needed more and the price had more than doubled! I contacted Amazon and told them about it and that I needed them for a shower and no way could I paying that huge price increase. They asked for me order number for the first set and matched it. I was so thankful as I really wanted these plates. Ü

I was still pretty sick with bronchitis this day, but had a great group of gals helping me out and it all went so smoothly. I did forget to take pics of the sign in table! But here is a link to the sign in sheet that was perfect for the colors we decorated with:

This week is a sketch challenge for Repeat Impressions. I made a trading card sized card for a gift I will be giving next month. The card measures 2.5" x 3.5". I used 9609-E, Citrus Wedge and the sentiment is 9717 Happy Hello.

This is the sketch that we followed for this

Tail Gate Themed Shower

The next shower I helped host was a tail gating theme on the 11th. This was a couples shower and their colors were red, white, and black and they are big Husker fans, so it was perfect to put the NE colors and theme together.

I was starting to get sick that day and totally forgot to take pictures of the food table! I started to take a picture of it when I was taking the other pics and then decided to wait until all the hot food was on as well. Bummer! So I will just have to describe it for you.

First off the invite...I am so excited about this invitation! I knew I wanted it to look like a Husker football ticket and the best reward was when a guy saw the invite and thought I actually had a football ticket in my hand. Ü MANY thanks to my graphic design son for helping me out with this!

Here are the decorations. We didn't add any table coverings to the eating tables, since the theme was tail gating. This was above the food table. For food we served 3 kinds of boneless chicken wings, chips and nacho dip, Big Red Popcorn, and snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies.

I wrapped tin cans with a textured designer paper that looks like football skin.

Here is the recipe for Big Red Popcorn that I made.

Big Red Popcorn
5 qt. popped popcorn
9 oz. pkg red hots
1/2 c. margarine
1/4 c. corn syrup
1/2 t. salt

Cook red hots, margarine, syrup and salt in microwave. Stir often. Boil 1 minute. Pour over popcorn in grocery sack; stir. Cook on high in grocery sack in microwave for 1 minute. Shake and cool. Break in small pieces.

RI What If Wednesday Photo Challenge

I've been sick with bronchitis and was needing some inspiration for the layout for this card and went to Sweet Sunday to find one. I chose their sketch #150.

You can see the inspiration photo below that the DT went by. The designer paper above was the boldest I had and I thought "after the rain...dandelions" so went with the Dandelion Breeze stamp. I don't like dandelions in the yard, but we need the rain so bad, I would put up with them. Ü We did get a little bit last week, so it was nice to know it CAN rain here!

RI What If Wednesday DCC

This months' Designer Choice Challenge is hosted by Kathy. She is challenging us to create a project using the heat embossing technique.

For my card, I used Dandelion Breeze and 9717 Happy Hello. I embossed both in white and added a little water coloring with Tombow markers to the dandelions and grass.

Candy Vending Machine

Regina, from Cutting Cafe, creates the best cutting files! This week the DT is showcasing this super fun and so versatile file called Vending Machine Template and Cutting File. It is super easy to put together, which is another thing I love about her files.

I had so many ideas going through my head on what to create. I have a shower coming up with the colors in this designer paper, so it may be a fun game prize...who knows. LOL

Because I'm not exactly sure who is going to receive this, I didn't add any sentiments to it. After I figure that out, I'll add a tag to the bow.
The file comes with a cutting strip to put around where I used vintage lace instead. The possibilities are endless of what you could add to the container and what theme you could go with.

Be sure to visit the Cutting Cafe Blog on the 7th and 21st of every month to see the design team's projects in which you can leave a comment to be entered into a drawing to win 3 FREE sets of your choice from the online store.
