Supersize It!

This is the theme for this week's Cutting Cafe challenge and what a fun one it has been. I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do, BUT our computer crashed, we lost all our files and then I had issues with Silhouette working with windows 7 after we reset the computer on the new hard drive, so had to update to Windows 10...let's just say I am NOT a fan of Windows 10! LOL

But even with all those issues, I was able to create this fun 'fabric doily' in very little time. I had so much making it, that now I want to make a bunch more for gifts. I think these will be very handy to have on hand to gift someone.

So what I did, was enlarge the 5 petal flower from

5 PETAL LAYERED FLOWER SET - TEMPLATE AND CUTTING FILES

and enlarged it as large as I could on my 12" x 12" Silhouette cutting mat. I cut it out with paper and then used that as my template to cut the fabric. I chose 2 different fabrics to sew together by hand so that it would be reversible and one can get more use out of it.

For the flower center, I just created a circle on my Silhouette that was approximately 5". I am a doily person and have to have vases, lamps, etc always sitting on a doily. This is a fun way to bring some color into my decorating.
These pictures were taken outside while there was still some light as it is too dark in the house to get a good photo and I needed to get these uploaded. But this 'flower doily' pattern works perfectly with the little vignette I have going right now.

Birthday Party Background

Today, I have a quick and simple birthday card using Birthday Party Background rubber stamp by Cutting Cafe.

I stamped the image onto designer paper and then added some washi tape and ribbon bow. It reminds me of a pretty package all wrapped up with a bow.

I needed to be able to create something quick and simple since I was to stay off my ankle as much as possible this past week after my last shockwave treatment. Monday is my evaluation appt and hopefully I find out what is going on.

Book Review: An Elegant Facade

I have another book review for Bethany House to share today. I've never read so much in the summer before! But seeing as how I am still laid up with this ankle and am very limited to how much I can walk, there isn't much more for me to do.

Today's review is for An Elegant Facade by Kristi Ann Hunter. This is the second book that Kristi has written from what I understand.
Cover Art
An Elegant Facade is the second book in the Hawthorne House series by Hunter, but I thought it stood on it's own as well. I would like to read the first book now though. The story begins in 1800 in England and Lady Georgina Hawthorne is quite the snooty socialite (on the outside anyway). She knows she must marry well, but Colin McCrae, who doesn't have a title, keeps showing up and he is not what she would consider 'marrying well'.

While it seems she has everything going for her, Lady Georgina has a secret that she is keeping hidden and Colin is getting too close for comfort in finding out her secret.

As much as the two have decided early on that they want nothing to do with the other, sparks fly and they are drawn to each other.

This book was so much fun to read, that I'm looking forward to reading the first book, which highlights Georgina's sister Miranda.

**I received this book for free from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.**

You Color My World

I'm back today with another card from Cutting Cafe. This week the design team is creating projects using the You Color My World Printable Stamp Set. This file has 41 image/sentiments to choose from.

I chose a colored image to print (printed on plain white cardstock) and a sentiment to create this card. I added some fun embellishments and really like how this turned out.

**tip: when gluing down a paper doily, tape runners can tear it as the paper doilies are so fragile. I use Tombow's Mono Adhesive Liquid Glue using the fine tip applicator and just add little dots of glue where needed.

Happy Birthday

Oh My! It's been a long time since I've done anything stamping creative. And the only thing really creative I've done at all the past many weeks is crochet dish cloths as that was one thing I could do while sitting with my foot up. But I digress....

The next few days a few of us gals from Cutting Cafe are featuring Regina's new stamp release. Have you checked out the CUTTING CAFE SHOP yet? You should head over there and see all the fun stamp sets and supplies that she carries. This month she has released Birthday Party Fun which is the set I used for my card below and Birthday Party Background which I will use in an upcoming post.

Here is a list for today through the 10th. Be sure to stop by these gal's blogs for more fun inspiration using the newly released stamps.
