More LAD and a farewell

I have two more LAD cards to share with you today. For the first one, my inspiration comes from Nichole Heady. I LOVE the Button Bits sets she has designed. When I saw this flower image in Lizzie Anne Designs December Monthly Mix "Celebrate" I knew I could immulate Nichole's idea. I'm not saying not to buy from her, because she sells quality stamps. But if you are like me and can't afford to buy everything, it is good to look at what you have and improvise.

I really like how this turned out. I left it without a sentiment, so that I can use it for whatever occassion turns up.

My second card is also from the Celebrate stamp set. It's hard to tell in the photo, but there is glitter around the star. Now for the farewell. It is with great sadness that I am leaving the Lizzie Anne Design team. I was sure they would have to kick me off, but my life is just too crazy right now and I need to cut back. This was a tough decision to make, but I know a right one. Benjamin graduates in less than 5 months and I want to be able to spend more quality time with him and family and have no regrets.

This doesn't mean I will quit creating, but will be slowing down. I have LOTS of projects that I will be preposting over the next few days/weeks/months that you haven't seen that I've done for CHA, Christmas gifts or whatever.

Fanciful Flourishes and God's "Frosting"

Here are a couple more projects using Lizzie Anne Design's Fanciful Flourishes. I am making a bunch of these note cards (4.25" x 5.5") for DH's g'ma for her birthday. She can just write a note and send out. I will include envelopes and postage stamps. I used Kraft cardstock and patterned paper that is from Basic Grey's "Eskimo Kisses" line. It is only 1" so a great way to use up scraps.

I cut vellum to fit this small votive glass (made my own template by rolling and drawing the top and bottom as you need curved template to fit around the glass).Then I use Tombow's Adhesive Removable to tape the template to my vellum and cut.

I arranged lots of the Flourish images on a large clear block and then stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I used Tombow's MONO Vellum Adhesive to tape the ends of the stamped vellum around the votive glass. This stuff is cool! You can't even see it through the vellum cardstock I used!

Here is a photo of a candle lit. It is much prettier at night.

I don't think anything gets much prettier than this in the winter than to wake up to all the trees frosted! We have lots of trees all around us that make a wonderful windbreak. This was the view ALL day as it was so cold none of it melted. These photos just don't do the beauty justice. Imagine LOTS of sparkly glitter thrown thick on trees. Ü

Fanciful Deck the Halls

Cards made with Fanciful Flourishes and Deck the Halls. I love it when I can use a stamp set for more than what it was intended. This Deck the Halls Christmas set has a package image that is perfect for a birthday card (that I needed to make today Happy Birthday Aaron!!).

I love the flourishes in the Fanciful Flourish set, but have been having a hard time trying to come up with something to really show them off. I am really liking how this card turned out! I stamped one of the images on ribbon which was fun to do and then once in white on the patterned paper that already had a flourish pattern on it. I used Liquid Applique to add little white dots.

December Blizzard 2009

This is why we haven't gone anywhere for the past few days. This was our view for two days and this wasn't the worse of it. I couldn't get out the door til it settled down some. We are going to try and venture out today and see if we can get to my inlaws. If not, we will be coming back home. But at least we will get out of the house for a little bit.

I will walk around the farm and post more pictures later.

Way Up North

Three cards using Lizzie Anne Designs Way Up North set. I used their Way Up North & Deck the Halls digi paper for the penguin card and just Way Up North for the igloo card. The igloo card is so sparkly and pretty with all the glitter. I used Crystal Effects on the lights.This is my favorite of the batch. I love this polka dot paper by Jillibean Soup. It is kraft with white dots. It really looks like it is snowing. I colored the images with Copic markers and sponged the edges with caramel ink. This will be a thank you for gifts received.

Christmas Cards and tags

I made a couple more Christmas cards and some fun tags to tie to some of the gifts I'm giving.

This is a Christmas card I'm giving and this card will be a thank you card for gifts received. The elf card uses digi paper by Lizzie Anne Designs as well.

I love how this image for the tags fits perfectly inside the Nestibilities die. Don't they look festive?

Merry Christmas!

I want to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you will all take time to reflect on why we celebrate this holiday.

We are snowed in at home and won't be travelling until possibly Sunday. Right now we can barely see across the road. More snow is in the forecast as well as the wind.

I will have lots of cards to show you later as I haven't had time to get pics taken of everything I've been working on due to helping the boys study for finals and finishing up my Christmas gifts, food, etc.

Candy Cane Candle and a give-a-way

I was soooo excited to receive an e-mail several days ago from Joanna who writes for the Tombow blog! (be sure to click on the link and see all the cool projects on the blog)

She had come across my blog and asked if I would be a day guest designer for the Tombow blog. Any of you who know me know that I LOVE Mono-Adhesive!!!! LOVE the stuff! I buy them in bulk and have used them since first introduced to the product by my sweet friend Kim 13 years ago. I seriously should by stock in the stuff! LOL!!

Okay, so back to the project. I love finding things to alter and these Dollar General candles are one of my favorite that I've come up with. This Candy Cane design is also one of my favorite that I have designed. I get so excited when I create something that is all mine and I didn't CASE from anyone. Ü I used Tombow's Mono-Adhesive Permanent and Mono Aqua Liquid Glue.

I used Basic Grey papers, Cricut cartridges for the scallop circle and candy cane and tag dies for the tag on the lid and in front.

For the ribbon tag on the front, I cut 5 tags (1 red and 4 white) and adhered them together to give the look of chipboard. I did this same technique for the candy cane. The scent of the candle is candy cane and that is where my inspiration for the design came from.

Now for the give-a-way. Ü Tombow is sending me a Dual Brush Pen set (6 brights) for me to give as blog candy! How cool is that? I don't have the set yet and we are due for a blizzard so it could be a few days yet before it arrives, but you can view the details here.

A few more notepads

I had sold or given away all but two of the notepads I've posted and was needing some more. These have been perfect for teacher, bus driver, UPS driver (ours is a lady), secretaries and Sunday School teacher gifts! (and for anyone else I haven't mentioned).

I made this one special for a TA in our room (Teacher's Aide). She is a senior and has a zebra print purse. She is going in to fashion design and is the best dressed student! Everything she wears is so coordinated. (I wish I was more that way!) She is coordinated from her jewelry to her accessories (including the cutest things in her hair) and clothes. She keeps telling me I need to layer more. Ü I have learned alot from her and wanted to make this notepad "coordinate" with her purse.

Last Sweety

Stringing Popcorn

I can remember stringing popcorn and cranberries at the country grade school. I have even strung popcorn as an adult and am thinking maybe I should do it again this year. There is something relaxing about sitting around with the kids and talking about whatever while creating these long garlands to put on the tree.

We've been having super cold weather and this image just makes me want to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and make out my lists (I'm a list maker of any kind Ü).

Montly Mix Blog Hop

I chose to use the current Monthly Mix "Celebrate". I love this snowflake and with all the snow we've had the past couple of days, it just seemed fitting to make a snow card. I also love this sketch on SCS and knew I wanted to combine the two.

I used lots of glitter on the snowflakes and it's so pretty and sparkly in real life.

S*N*O*W Day #2!

WOOHOOO!!!!! We have another snow day! I baked bread yesterday. I think I will bake again today and do some stamping.

This is a tea*bag* I made for LAD's Project of the Month. It is made with a lunch sack. The image is from Lizzie Anne Designs new Monthly Mix set called "Celebrations". This image is actually a coffee image (it has coffee words around it that I cut off), but I wanted to use it for tea.

Stamps: Celebrate - December 09 Mix Set
Other: Way Up North digital paper pack, ribbon, ink to match paper, small paper sack, magnetic snap, slot punch.

1. Cut paper sack to measure the same height as width (my sack is 4.25" wide)
2. Cut snow cardstock 4.25" x 4.25" and adhere to front of sack
3. Cut coordinating cardstock 4.25" x 5.75" and score at 1.5" from one short end
4. Punch slots on fold line of coordinating cardstock and insert ribbon ends and tape them down.
5. Line up front paper sack to inside coordinating piece and adhere.
6. Stamp coffee image (I cut the words off as I made this for a tea drinking friend) and apply adhesive to top third of image and glue to flap.
7. Add magnetic snap behind stamped image.
8. Fill bag with tea bags and give to friend.

Sweety Cocoa Tag Box

This is my second post today. Here is another tag box I made using Inky Antics stamp from the Sweety line. Each one I make ends up being my new favorite. Ü I used Tombow Adhesive to put this tag box together.

I was soooo excited to get an e-mail from Lynn on SCS asking if they could feature my tag box that I designed a few years ago.

so very sick

Bruce bought us tickets to see Nebraska Huskers play this weekend. If they won on Friday nite, the tickets were good for Saturday's game as well.

We made it to Lincoln for Friday's nite game and as soon as we got to the motel I got sick...VERY sick! (unfortunately we had to come home Saturday as I was too sick. I kept thinking I would get better...not)

So much for the flu shot! I've never had 24-hour flu and never been this weak. This was my first year getting the shot and I'm not convinced this is something I need to do again! Won't go into detail, but wanted to "blog" for medical reasons if my Omaha dr ever says I need this shot again.

On the "up" side, we won both games! GO HUSKERS!!!
