Go Birding Day

Today is National "Go Birding Day" and that is the theme for this week's challenge on D2D. However I goofed. It was suppose to be a Christmas/Winter card. So I guess we could just say this bird is thankful it's NOT winter right now??

I combined An Apple a Day and Appliqued Tree to create this card. The lovely paper is "Stella Rose" by My Mind's Eye.
Be sure to stop by Card Ideas to see what other Birding cards were created as well as play along with us on this challenge. Also, don't forget our gallery where you can view other projects made with these images and others as well as view individual designer galleries.

Okay, I decided to make the CORRECT card. Here I used D2D's Whimsical Cardinals and Basic Grey papers.

Inky Box (and Bag) Hop

Welcome to the Inky Antics box & bag blog hop! It starts today and ends on Sunday, May 1st at midnight Central time. We invite you to visit each DT members’ blog and leave feedback about their creation. Three winners will be drawn at random to receive one of our template stamps. The more you comment, the better your chances are to win. (Limit one comment per blog, please). The winners’ names will be announced on the Inky Antics blog next Monday, so remember to stop back and see if you’ve won.

If you've been following from the beginning and you’ve come from Jovi’s blog you are in the right spot. If not, be sure to start at Inky Antics blog.

I created two projects using two different box templates. The first one is using 10189X Tall Bag Template and the apple image is from the new 11025MC Caterpillar Honey Pop Set. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I wanted to create a little something to give the teachers whose rooms I work in.

The glittery leafy green paper I used was from the new paper pad I rec'd from my Shoebox Sister Swap here called Song Bird. The little tab is held shut with magnetic snaps and I added a Basic Grey button to finish it off. I couldn't find any apple flavored candy that sounded that good, so I filled with caramel flavored hard candy that I thought fit the theme.

For my second project I used X2-2940 Box Template (box only-there is a cover you can use too). My stamped image is 10278F Lucy Square. I love these images by Tammy DeYoung.

You can squeeze 5 of these Laffy Taffys in the box. All images are colored with colored pencils and blended with Gamsol.

You are finished with the hop. Now go back to Inky Antics blog to post that you've made your rounds.

Jillibean Soup and Frogs

Did you know April is National Frog Month? I found these adorable pre-colored digital frog images on Scrappin' Doodles. They are so bright and cheerful and went perfectly with the new papers and goodies I received in my kit from Jillibean Soup. This week Tombow is partnering with Jillibean Soup and I can't wait to see what everyone creates! Be sure to stop by each the Tombow blog and Jillibean Soup's to see what both companies DT create.

Here are two cards that I created using Tombow and Jillibean Soup products.
This card uses 3 of Jillibean Soup patterned papers and Thank you sticker. I used Tombow's Stamp Runner for my adhesive and Cool Gray 3 Dual Brush Pen for shadows on the image.

This card used 2 of Jillibean's paper and "friends" sticker. I used Tombow's Stamp Adhesive Runner and  cool gray 3 Dual Brush pen for shadows.

Bunny in Flowers

I stumbled across this clip art site with the CUTEST designs! They are precolored to help you create super quick cards.

The image set "Wee Bunnies Love Pink" was only a dollar and you get 6 images. The cool thing is you can make them any size you want.
I added a photo corner and one of my crocheted flowers. The center of the flower is actually an upholstery tack! You can get a package of them at Wal-Mart for a very reasonable price and there are LOTS in there. I just cut the tack off with my wire cutters (yes "my", I have my own tools. Ü) and used Tombow's Power Tabs to adhere it and the flower to the card.

I also used Tombow's Cool Gray 3 Dual Brush Pen to add shadows to the image.

QKR Pink Button Flowers

My card for QKR Stampede today uses a digital image called "Flowers". I added dimensional magic to the center of the flowers and then the Basic Grey buttons to go with the flowers' button center theme. I also used Basic Grey papers for the card front.

The image was colored with Tombow's Irojiten colored pencils and blended with Gamsol.

Bee Hive

**This is my second post today, so be sure to scroll down for the first one.

Here is a card made with an older Designed2Delight image from their Help for Katie Honey Bear Sweetness set. I had this image colored before my surgery and just now got it into card form.

Papers are from Cosmo Cricket and SU! Colored with markers.

Be sure to stop by Card Ideas blog to see all the awesome inspiration that has been posted there lately!

PS: I didn't forget about the drawing (from this post). The company that Tombow is pairing up with had some delays and so we aren't joining them til next week. So you have until this Thursday to keep guessing. The "item" has "kinda" been guessed, but still not correct company. Ü

PSS: it's not adhesive

Nest Swap

Sisters Monica and Carrie held another Sister Shoebox Swap and this round's theme was Nest. I loved the theme and was so excited to make some goodies for my "sister". They partnered me up with Hayley. She had some really tough trials happen to her as this swap began and I felt like I should just bless her with some goodies anyway.

Here are a couple of things I sent her along with lots of scrapbook goodies as she is a scrapper.

The frame was gold and I spray painted it blue. I printed this image (sorry I can't find where I got it, if I find it I will post a link) onto a light blue floral printed paper and added the birds from a SU! punch.

Since Hayley was unable to play this round Kim Miller offered to send me some goodies. Here is the LOOT she sent me! It was so fun to go thru and look at all the bird/nest related treasures.

Kim thank you so much for all the goodies! I can't wait to play with them. They are perfect for spring!

Let's Hear it for the Boys

This is today's theme challenge on D2D's Card-Ideas blog. I used Designed2Delight's Catch of the Day image. I had to look up fish on the internet to figure out how to color it. I used my favorite Basic Grey-for guys-paper. I colored the image with my new colored pencils from Tombow.

There is no sentiment, because I don't know if this will be a birthday card or anniversary card for DH.

We would love to have you come and play along with us creating cards for the big "boys" in your life.

Slow and Steady

It's time for another QKR Stampede blog hop. If you have come from QKR Stampede's blog you are in the right place, if not click on their link and go back to get the details and I'll meet you back here.

Today we are featuring turtles...remember slow and steady wins the race, slow and steady gets things done and slow and steady helps you heal after surgery. Ü (I'm doing pretty good by the way.... slow and steady is my mantra).

While our theme is "slow and steady", this is a quick and easy card to make. I have used two images for my card. Digi Turtle for the front

and Digi If a Turtle for the inside.

I used Basic Grey papers and I am going to use this card for a graduation card for one of my students.

Now it's time to mosey on over to Kristie's blog to see which cute turtle image she used.

Bold and Bright Paper Bag Album

**Edited to add: There is still time to guess what product and company I used in this post. The product has been guessed, but not the company. Ü

Here is a fun paper bag album I made with the plan to put pictures of my youngest son and all his goofy faces and costumes he used to make when he was little. I am thinking since the paper and so bold and bright I will print all my pictures black and white.

To make the album, just fold paper bags in half (I used lunch sacks) and alter the openings on the ends so they are every other one. Then  I just sew down the center and cover each page, making pockets as I go.

I use Tombow's Mono Adhesive Power Bond to adhere the papers to the bag and Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive to adhere paper to paper.

Front:

Pages 1 & 2

Pages 1 & 2 with pocket pull outs

Pages 3 & 4

Pages 5 & 6

Pages 5 & 6 pocket pull outs

Pages 7 & 8

Pages 7 & 8 pocket pull outs

Pages 9 & 10

Pages 9 & 10 Pocket Pull outs

Back

When I'm done decorating I tie ribbon to the center and add tied knots to the outside of the album.

I hope this fun project inspires you to try a paper bag album. Ü

Ladybug Bloom

This month Tombow is featuring their awesome Stamp Runner! I love this new adhesive runner. It is more ergonomically correct and even smoother than my loved Mono Adhesive Permanent.

For my project this week I used not only the Stamp Runner Adhesive, but also Tombow's Irojiten Color Dictionary Pencils.
This card uses a fun spring image from Designed2Delight called Ladybug Bloom. I cut a flower shape (yellow) to go with the flower theme  with my cricut and zigzag stitched around it.

My card uses a fun product by a company that Tombow will be joining with the 3rd week of April. Guess what product I used AND the company name and you will be entered to win a fun little kit that I have made up with Tombow and "Surprise Company" goodies as well as a few of my own. this will be open until Thursday, April 14th.

One guess per post, but you can guess as many times as you want.

Blogging For Books-When Sparrows Fall

I am signed up again with Blogging for Books. The first book I rec'd Friday (yep and had it read by yesterday afternoon Ü) was "When Sparrows Fall" by Meg Moseley. I loved it!

This story is about a young widowed mother of 6. She is involved in a cult like church and is trying to get out, but the "preacher" has a hold on her with a secret he knows about her past.

Early in the story, she asks God to help her "outsmart" the preacher. He does so in a way that one may not have asked for and her step brother in law is called to come and help care for the children as she is in the hospital.

This book kept my interest to the very end which makes it a great book to me.

Click here for chapter 1 of When Sparrows Fall

**I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review
